A Fort Wayne man died as a result of a Sunday motorcycle accident in North Webster, and a South Whitley man remains in serious condition after a Saturday mo-ped accident near Silver Lake.
The motorcycle accident occurred at 1:53 p.m. Sunday on Ind. 13, south of Channel Street in North Webster, when a northbound van driven by Michael R. Wiggins, 22, of EMS W26 Lane, North Webster, made a left-hand turn in front of a motorcycle driven by Terry L. Wilson, 41, of Fort Wayne.
Wilson, who was not wearing a helmet, struck Wiggins' car in the passenger side. Wilson suffered head injuries and was airlifted from the scene to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he later died.
A passenger on Wilson's motorcycle, Dennis Wilson, 11, of Chesapeake, Va., suffered a broken leg and was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, for treatment. Police said the younger Wilson also was not wearing a helmet.
Both of the Wilsons were ejected from the motorcycle.
Wiggins suffered cuts and abrasions and was taken to KCH for treatment.
The accident remains under investigation. The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by personnel from North Webster police and fire departments and North Webster Emergency Medical Service.
The mo-ped accident was discovered at 12:54 p.m. Saturday on CR 700E, north of CR 1150S, near Silver Lake.
A passerby found Larry Parker, 55, of East CR 800S, South Whitley, unconscious at the scene of the accident. He suffered head injuries and was taken to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he underwent surgery and was listed in serious condition this morning.
According a KCSD press release, it appears Parker was northbound on CR 700E when he lost control of his mo-ped. It is not known how long Parker was at the location before the accident was discovered.
The accident remains under investigation. The KCSD was assisted at the scene by personnel from Sidney Fire Department and Life Med Emergency Medical Service.
