Webster Carnival April 23NORTH WEBSTER - North Webster Parent Teacher Friend Organization is hosting the North Webster School Carnival April 23 from 5 to 8 p.m.
This year's theme is "Shipwrecked on Webster Cove," and all the guests are asked to dress in Hawaiian garb.
The carnival will include some old favorite activities and many new ones, too.
"If you've never been to the school, this is a great time to see what's going on with our local students and teachers," said Kristin Bonner, carnival chairman. "It promises to be a fun family event for all ages. There's something for everyone."
Things to do include painting a treasure chest, jumping in inflatables and playing many old-fashioned carnival games. Each game win guarantees the player a token. Tokens can be redeemed in the "Treasure Chest" prize room. Parents can buy wristbands for their children to wear, and they can play the carnival games all evening for one price. Tickets also will be available.
This year a special area for preschoolers is being offered. They will have their own inflatable to jump in, and the library is sponsoring a craft area and fun games for them. There will be places for parents and grandparents to sit and supervise.
Bonner said last year's turnout was huge and it's expected to be the same this year.
Raffle tickets will be sold for prizes, including a Trex bike; overnight passes to Shipshewana's hotel and waterpark, Wana Waves, for four; a $60 Aveda facial and pedicure from J3 Salon; gift cards to Maria's; bowling; a custom $200 teeth-whitening from Aegis Dental Group; an iPod touch; and many other items.
The carnival is a fundraiser for the PTFO to raise money to help teachers buy extra things for their classrooms.
To help in tough economic times, Bonner said, students were offered the chance to pre-order Pizza Hut pizza and wristbands at a reduced rate. Both items will be offered at the carnival. There also will be hot dogs, sno cones, ice cream and baked goods.
