Warsaw Community Schools collected more than 2,500 powdered drink packets for bottles of water and wrote more than 900 Christmas cards to send to soldiers. The Dream Council at Warsaw Community High School, in collaboration with Amanda Scroggs, senior class principal, organized the schoolwide project to collect the cards and drink packets. Teachers and students gave a few minutes of their time during the school day to brighten the Christmas season of a hero serving overseas. The Dream Council is open to all students and meets on Monday in the media center right after school. The Dream Council exists to give all students a voice to dream and enrich the lives of others by giving back to the school and community with their time, talent and treasures. For more information about The Dream Council, contact Junior Class Principal Dani Barkey, Sophomore Class Guidance Counselor Luisa Davis or Freshmen Class Guidance Counselor Emily Shearer at WCHS. This project was completed through Hoosiers Helping Heroes, a not-for-profit organization which gathers and sends care packages to our troops serving overseas. Its website is hoosiershelpingheroes.org
