Thomas R. Kline, former assistant principal at Lawrenceburg High School, Lawrenceburg, was approved Tuesday as the new principal for Lakeview Middle School.
The Warsaw School Board held a special meeting Tuesday to approve Kline's hiring. Kline was not present.
Kline will replace Dr. David McGuire, who was promoted to assistant superintendent of the school corporation after Dr. Anthony Etienne retired.
Kline has 24 years of experience as an educator, both at the high school and middle school levels, said superintendent Dr. Lee Harman, and has a background as a math teacher.
"He has a proven record of educational leadership," Harman said. "He spearheaded teaching algebra to eighth-graders in Lawrenceburg, which resulted in SAT scores going up."
Kline also was chosen as teacher of the year in Lawrenceburg.
His wife, Lorinda, also is a math teacher and she will take a teaching position at Edgewood Middle School.
Board members said they also have begun advertising for a new principal of Silver Lake Elementary, following the resignation of David McComb, and that they hope to have a new principal by the beginning of the school year.
School board members are: Craig Allebach, president; Charles Sauders, vice president; Roy Szymanski, secretary; Cathy Folk, James Folk, Brad Brail and Larry Chamberlain. Brail and Chamberlain were absent at Tuesday's meeting.
