WCS Announces COVID Case At High SchoolOn Wednesday, Warsaw Community Schools was made aware of a COVID positive student at Warsaw Community High School/Warsaw Area Career Center.

WCS has established COVID protocols of notification regarding a positive test for the WCS district, according to a news release Thursday from WCS.

Kosciusko County Health Department made contact with families of students of close contact exposure (within 6 feet for 15 continuous minutes). Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert sent out an email Thursday to staff in all schools. In the future, only schools affected will receive that notification, according to the news release. WCHS Principal Troy Akers and WACC Director Ronna Kawsky sent a letter to all WCHS/WACC parents by email Thursday. In the future, only the affected school building principal will email parents registered at their individual school.

Part of the letter states: “The most common symptoms of COVID infection are cough, fever, and shortness of breath; muscle aches, sore throat and fatigue are also common. Symptoms usually develop between two to 14 days after exposure.  Some infected persons never develop symptoms. As a reminder, always keep your child home if they are ill for any reason. Also, please remember that students who are awaiting test results are not allowed to attend school.”

Parents who did not receive an email from WCS Thursday are asked to go into the Power School portal and update their email contact information.

WCS will continue to work with KCHD to determine what actions and notifications are necessary.
