WCPL Upgrades Computer System

Posted
Warsaw Community Public Library is moving to The Library Corporation's Library Solution, a new computer system, in early September, replacing its outdated seven-year-old system.

The new computer system will help library users by making it easier for them to locate a book, look up an online news story, and speed up the checkout process.

The public catalog features the Book River, a scrolling, computerized display of actual book covers/jackets of books available in the Warsaw Community Public Library, as well as online news feeds that are accompanied by a listing of related library books."[What I like is that] people will be able to be actively engaged with the collections. Reviews are provided and, if so desired, people can add their own comments on materials read, viewed, or heard by using a rating system and add tag words to existing library subject headings that make better sense to them personally," said Ann Zydek, WCPL director.

"I think they'll really like the functions that are now going to be included - tagging, the faceted search capability, (and the ability to) do reviews of materials they've used," Brookins said. "Those are things we haven't had that are going to be very nice."

Residents are invited to come in and explore the new system and discover for themselves how easy it is to use. For more information on Warsaw Community Public Library's new library system, call 574-267-6011.
