Warsaw Community Public Library will hold a program to help people learn how to date, identify, and preserve photos.
The workshop will be April 9 in Meeting Room AB at the library starting at 1 p.m. Kosciusko County Historical Society and the Warsaw library  are sponsoring the free workshop.
After the workshop, refreshments will be served and Joan Hostetler, a Pierceton native, will view patrons’ photographs and give some tips on dating and identifying them from 3 to 5 p.m.
This workshop focuses on photographic processes and formats starting with the daguerreotype invented in 1839, moving up through present day digital images.
Hostetler will discuss postcards, cyanotypes, panoramic images, glass negatives, tintypes, stereoviews, Polaroids, snapshots, and other common photographs.
Hostetler has a certificate in photograph preservation from the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography.
She is co-owner of Heritage Photo and Research Services in Indianapolis, a company specializing in local history research, photo preservation and digitization, and archives management.
