Because of his diligence, a truck that Our Father's House needs to operate is being repaired by the Warsaw Community High School Advanced Welding Class.
Chris Morr, welding class teacher, said the bottom and next panel of the truck's back door were damaged. Villa, Morr said, volunteers at Our Father's House and saw the work needed to be done.Villa said he asked Our Father's House Director Roz Morgan if the welding class could repair the truck for the organization. Morgan gave her approval.
Morr said Villa and about two to three other students worked on the truck.
"The truck was dangerous," said Morgan. "One of the cables that drew the door up was frayed and ready to snap."
She said the truck is the best one on gas that Our Father's House has. It also has a ramp, and is the most used truck.
Villa said he saw people having problems opening and closing the door on the truck. He said they have spent many hours working on the van so Our Father's House can use it again safely.
As part of the welding class, Morr said, he tries to give his class some real-life application experience and do work for the community. The aluminum used to cover the broken panels, he said, was donated by Lewis Salvage.
"I want Jose and this class to know this is absolutely crucial to our organization to have this truck," said Morgan. She said it is used to pick up donations and deliver items people purchase at Our Father's House.
"We have a wonderful Christmas gift from our school system and this young man," said Morgan.
