WCHS Threat Investigated

A note scrawled on a bathroom mirror at Warsaw Community High School caused some panic among students and parents this morning.

The note allegedly stated that students were going to be shot today."While we are taking this serious in the manner we investigate it and follow our protocol, we don't believe this is a serious threat," said Warsaw Community Schools Superintendent Dr. Robert Haworth.

Haworth also said that claims SWAT teams were at the high school, or that the school was on lockdown, were untrue.

A Warsaw Police Department vehicle was parked near the main entrance of the school this morning, but it belongs to WPD officer and WCHS School Resource Officer Dave Morales. That vehicle is parked in front of the school every day.

Haworth advised parents who receive calls or text messages from students about this incident should call the high school or WPD first.

"When parents get these calls, they need to call the school or the police," said Haworth.

Penn High School experienced a similar situation when a message was scrawled on a bathroom wall in January said that students would be shot April 18.

The message never came to fruition as no one at Penn High School was harmed.

Haworth believes that the incident may be a copycat situation.

"It's an unfortunate sign of the times we live in," said Haworth.
