Posted
INDIANAPOLIS - Once again, the Warsaw Super Mileage Team competed in the Indiana Math, Science & Technology Education Alliance Super Mileage Competition at the O'Reilly Raceway Park. The purpose of the Super Mileage Competition is to challenge the students' problem-solving abilities through math, science, engineering and technology. The emphasis is focused toward a practical experience in designing, fabricating and testing an actual vehicle.

On April 27, WCHS students went down to Indianapolis to go through technical inspection. All vehicles must go through this inspection for safety reasons, and both vehicles passed, which allowed the vehicles to compete on April 28. WCHS's team was able to pull the rig into the pit area about an hour ahead of everyone else and, as a result, was able to be featured on the morning edition of FOX 59 news out of Indianapolis.

The final results of the competition had the stock class vehicle with a best run of around 435 miles per gallon. The unlimited class had a best run of close to 1,070 miles per gallon, and took third place in the unlimited class with an average miles per gallon of 932. As an extra bonus, WCHS also received the trophy for best design proposal.

The WCHS team included Geoff Morris, Kevin Rich, Ben Bryan, Mercedes Plummer, Devon Lockridge, Ian Alcorn, Preston Baier, Gage Vervaet, Trevor Rouch, Brandon Williams, Todd Lincoln, Jeremy Meadows, Chris Allen and James Walton.
