WCHS Student Designs Community Theatre Logo

Posted
The Center Street Community Theatre recently began using a new logo in connection with the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts’ rebranding initiative.
The logo was designed by Warsaw Community High School Student Anna Craig.
Craig created the logo design as part of an assignment for her visual communications class. Students in the class were given a list of criteria and tasked with designing a new logo for the community theatre. The theatre’s leadership team then decided on which logo to use.
“We were given several great options,” CSCT leadership team member Jennifer Shepherd is quoted as saying in a press release. “In the end, we decided to go with Anna’s design because of how well it complements the Wagon Wheel Center For the Arts’ main logo, and because the image of three performers hints at our goal of widespread community involvement.”
In the press release, Craig is quoted as saying that she intended for her logo to be simple and to capture “a feeling of festivity.” Her decision to include human figures in the design was based on an understanding that the people involved are what define a theater. The winning logo was one of several that she created, but Craig feels that this design was her best.
CSCT has been using Craig’s new logo since November. Phil Herbruck, another member of the leadership team, said that the design has been very helpful.
“As a relatively new organization,” he said, “it’s important that our messages to the community have some consistent threads. A good logo is an important place to start.”
The Center Street Community Theatre joined the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts’ initiatives in summer 2014. Its upcoming production of John Cariani’s dramatic comedy “Almost, Maine” will be performed on the Wagon Wheel stage March 20-22.
