Posted
Analiese Helms will perform a recital accompanied by Judie Meulink Saturday at 4 p.m. at Pleasant View Bible Church, 2782 W. CR 200N, Warsaw.
The public is invited. Several genres of music will be performed.
Helms is a sophomore at Warsaw Community High School, playing violin with the high school orchestra.
This past November, she was selected to perform in the Indiana All-State Orchestra. At All-State Jan. 25, she played “Symphony No. 5” by Tchaikovsky, movements 2 and 4, and “Festive Overture” by Shostakovich.
Currently, she is a member of the Symphony of the Lakes and performs with the Fort Wayne Youth Symphony on violin. She has competed in ISSMA solo and ensemble contests for the past three years earning gold ratings at regional and state levels for flute and violin. This year, she added a viola solo and a string ensemble. In 2012, Helms won a junior division concerto competition and was the guest soloist with the Peru Community Orchestra.
She is active in the community by playing her instruments at local nursing homes and with her church youth praise team. She has enjoyed showing llamas through 4-H. Singing is another passion and acting with the high school theater department or her church youth group. Helms is constantly challenging herself  by learning new instruments, one of which she will publically debut on Saturday.
She feels honored to have been selected to attend the Masterworks Festival this summer and is presenting this concert as a way to earn funds for the tuition. Donations will be accepted at the recital.
