Warsaw Community High School (WCHS) announced senior Preston Park has been selected as a recipient of a 2026 National Merit Scholarship.
Earlier this year, Preston Park and fellow Senior Ian Parrott were named National Merit finalists after advancing through a highly competitive process that recognizes exceptional academic achievement, strong standardized test performance, leadership and overall student accomplishment, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.
Each year, more than 1.5 million students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT. Of those students, approximately 16,000 are named Semifinalists and about 15,000 advance to finalist standing. From that group, only a portion are selected to receive National Merit Scholarships.
“We are incredibly proud of Preston for this outstanding accomplishment,” said Principal Troy Akers. “Being named a National Merit Scholar reflects years of hard work, dedication and academic excellence. We’re excited to celebrate this achievement and all that lies ahead for him.”
Park plans to attend The University of Alabama this fall, where he will pursue a pre-law track.
