The Industrial Technology Education Department at Warsaw Community High School wants to introduce a new Project Lead The Way class for the 2010-11 school year, biotechnology engineering.
Students apply biological and engineering concepts related to biomechanics, genetic engineering and forensics. Biotechnology Engineering is a year-long class that will be a prime candidate for honors credit (pending approval). Students will be able to apply for dual college credit if they earn a B or better class grade and a C or better on the final exam. The class is open to ninth- through 12th-grade students.
This class is a hands-on, activity-driven class. The class focuses on many concepts in biotechnology, which include: what drives biotechnology industry, bioethical issues, forensics, bioengineering in agriculture, biomedical engineering, orthopedics, cardiac devices and imaging. For more information about this class, contact Abbi Montgomery at amontgomery@warsaw.k12.in.us For information about PLTW, visit http://beta.pltw.org/ For information on PLTW dual credit opportunities, visit www.doe.in.gov/octe/technologyed/dualcredit.html
