Warsaw Community High School Jazz Band recently was invited to perform during the Elkhart Jazz Festival. The performance took place June 23 in the Crystal Ballroom at the Lerner Theater in downtown Elkhart. Jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli performed with the students as special guest. In addition to leading his own bands, Pizzarelli has performed with Benny Goodman, Les Paul and was a member of Doc Serverinsen’s band on ‘The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.’ WCHS band members also received free passes to the rest of the festival. The WCHS Jazz Band is under the direction of Mickey Ratliff and Emily Mikel. Pictured is the WCHS Jazz Band performing with Bucky Pizzarelli (second from the left) at the Elkhart Jazz Festival.
