ATLANTA - Former Warsaw Community High School basketball standout Jason Zimmerman was recently named as the men's basketball head coach of Emory University in Atlanta.
Emory, a research university that plays at the NCAA Division III level, was 8-17 last year and 2-12 in the University Athletic Conference.Zimmerman was most recently an assistant under Steve Merfeld at Evansville. Before that he was an assistant at Davidson, his alma mater, from 1996 to 2003.
Zimmerman is a 1990 WCHS grad and scored 945 points in his prep career.
According to the Emory University website, Zimmerman has a wife, Traci, a son, Trevor, and a daughter, Taylor.
"The reputation of Emory, its fine facilites, and the high regard that the University Athletic Association is held in made the job appealing," Zimmerman said in a press release from Emory University. "Emory is about success and when you are around successful people, good things can happen. My family and I are honored and excited about joining the Emory family."
