Four comedies and two dramas will be performed Thursday night when the Warsaw Community High School Drama Department presents “An Evening Of One Act Plays.”
The performances, directed by juniors and seniors who have consistently been involved in the WCHS Theatre Dept., start at 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $5 at the door.
“Sunday Dinner” by Tami Farmer will be the first one-act play of the evening and will be directed by Liz Brown and Kendra Housel.
In “Sunday Dinner,” a family is getting together for a Sunday dinner to celebrate grandma’s birthday. The mom is very controlling and nobody really listens to grandma or takes time to get to know the significant others in the family, according to a synopsis provided by “Evening” sponsor and WCHS theater teacher Dana McAfee.
The cast includes Caroline Mayer, Rachel Smith, Samuel Engle, Shelby Perry, Nate Meyer, Luke Wilson and Marina Schuh.
Directing “Freak” by Angela Hill will be Gianna Burkholder and Casey Helser.
The one-act is “a creative way to illustrate the struggles that go along with bullying, how it affects those who are the victims, but still gives some hope at the end,” the synopsis states.
The cast of “Freak” includes Gabi Bradley, Chase Madsen, Jenna Bremer, Olivia Deeter, Gus Gigous, Morgan Ashtari, Anna Marie Kelly, Hayden Gerst, Emma Tomasik, Kendall Cox, Elizabeth Yeiter, Rachael Kuhn, Karissa Meyers, Kodi Holle, Maegan McFarland, Abigail Smith, Claire Hubner, Haylie Lackey, Sara Hohman and Laura White.
Vern Harden’s “Ha Ha House” will be directed by Wyatt Slone and Annie Wray.
In this play, a group of teens gets lost in an old house where another group of people are on a treasure hunt and don’t want to be disturbed.
The cast of “Ha Ha House” will be Audrey Rich, Korah Gillard, Ophelia Luu, Mya Woods, Brooke Neubaum, Colton Andrews, Daniel Hench, Briley Gargis, Andrew Hawblitzel and Sam Rice.
After a 10-minute intermission, “Soap Opera” by David Ives will kick off the second half of the night. Nicholas DiVacarro and Haleigh Randall direct.
“Soap Opera” is a “satire love story of a washer repairman in love with his washer,” provided information states.
The cast includes Cole Baker, Julia Smith, Alexis Manwaring, Orion Fritcher-White, Lucas Cone, Kylee Clark and Greer Smith.
Cailin Clay and Kirstin Davis direct “Mirrors” by John O’Brien.
The performance tells the story of a man who can’t let go of his past mistake that changed the course of his life.
In the cast are Bailey Berelsman, Aaron Wainscott, Stone Rager, Tiffany Rusinack, Lydia DeBoest and Abby Smith.
The last of the one-acts will be “Epic Adventure” by Jordan Fredericks, directed by Fredericks and Emma Lemon. It is a parody of the gaming craze.
Taking the stage in the play will be Margaret Prather, Bahley Davis, Zach Allen, Rebecca Lemon, Joshua Miller, Megan Lowman, Maddi Hart, Kylee Gudeman, Julia Surface, Emily Baumgartner, Courtney Christenberry, Bailey Harmon, Taylor Biberstine, Whitney Borkholder, Morgen Fuentes, Analiese Helms, Allison Kosins, Michelle McCarty, Beth Morgan, Danielle Ousley and Emily Rodriguez.
