The Warsaw Community High School Marching Tigers' Pride received a Gold rating at the Regional competition held Oct. 13 at Chesterton High School.
The band qualified for the Regional competition by receiving a Gold rating at District competition at Penn High School Sept. 29. Bands at the Regional level receive a rating of Gold, Silver, or Bronze, but also are competing for the opportunity to advance to State Finals.
The Tigers' Pride had one of its strongest Regional finishes yet with its performance of "Medusa," an original composition by Key Poulan. Different segments of the piece, with titles such as "Athena's Rage" and "Serpents," are meant to musically depict various aspects of the Medusa story from Greek mythology. The band is under the direction of Mickey Ratliff, Emily Mikel and Joe and Shannon Peloza.
The band will next perform as part of the pit orchestra for "Seussical: The Musical" Nov. 9-11, as the pep band during men's and women's basketball games, and during the band's Winter Concert Dec. 13.
