The Warsaw Community High School Fine Arts Festival is May 17. The Tri Kappa and WCHS Art Show is May 20.
The 28th annual Tri Kappa/WCHS Art Show is sponsored and funded by the associate chapter of Tri Kappa.
Students will be displaying visual arts from their classes. Senior art students will showcase their work from the past four years. The art will be judged by three artists from the community. Monetary awards will be given in 12 categories, with the top awards being the Best of Show and a runner-up. Ribbons also will be awarded in various other categories.
Preceding the Art Show, on May 17 a Fine Arts Festival will be held in the new Performing Arts Center at WCHS from 6 to 9 p.m. From 6 to 7 p.m., theater students will be performing in the auditorium. The art show awards will be presented on stage from 7 to 7:20 p.m.
From 6 to 8 p.m. in the hallway between the cafeteria and the Center, there will be a Potter's Wheel, soapstone carving and painting demonstrations.
The Tri Kappa Art Exhibit also will be open in the Black Box Theatre from 6 to 9 p.m. From 7:30 to 8;30 p.m., a pops concert will be presented by the WCHS band.
Other events will be an open mic and free coffeehouse, sponsored by the WCHS student council, in the cafeteria.
An artist exhibit by Sara Robbins will be on display in the Center gallery. There also will be some other visual projects, poetry reading and flash fiction in the lobby.
