Warsaw Community Development Corp. board members heard about events that are being planned in Warsaw for the summer during Tuesday's board meeting.
Stephanie Salyer, WCDC events committee chair, informed board members the Lincoln Highway Garage Sale will be held Aug. 11.
Salyer said the event will include garage sales around the courthouse and on the sidewalks on Center, Lake and Buffalo streets.
A Downtown Days Event also is being planned for August 25 in Warsaw.
The event will include a bike race, 5-K run and kids activities.
Salyer also discussed the the downtown farmers market being held this summer in Warsaw.
She said there have been two markets held this summer where tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers and homemade candy have been sold.
The market is the first and third Saturdays of the month from June through October. It is open from 7 a.m. to noon.
Kevin Zachary, Warsaw Biblical Gardens, informed the corporation a "Rhapsody In Bloom" event will be June 26 at the gardens and Center Lake Pavilion.
He said the event is sponsored by the Warsaw Biblical Gardens and Lake City Bank and will kick off with a champagne reception at 6 p.m. in the gardens followed by a George Gershwin Concert at the pavilion.
Also during the meeting, Zachary made a proposal to the corporation to allow the Warsaw Biblical Gardens committee to be allowed to handle finances for contributions that are made to the Biblical Gardens.
He requested the committee have more control of its finances to make deposits and write checks for the Biblical Gardens.
"We will have better insight where we are with our finances if we are able to have more control," Zachary said.
He said the committee is currently not able to write checks and it has been difficult to track contributions that are made for the Biblical Gardens.
He said there are 19 tours scheduled for the garden this year.
The corporation approved the WCDC executive committee to review the request.
Kent Adams, Kosciusko County treasurer, informed board members tax bills will be mailed out July 3. Payment installments will be due September 10 and November 13.
This applies to all taxing units except Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation, he said.
