WCDC OKs 2009 Board Slate, Will Make Facade Grant Recommendations To City

Posted
Warsaw Community Development Corp. Tuesday approved a slate of officers for 2009.

The slate will remain the same as 2008 and includes President Mary Ellen Rudisel-Jordan, Vice President Rick Snodgrass, Treasurer Jay Baumgartner and Secretary Fay Montelongo.

The corporation also approved submitting a recommendation for a facade grant policy to Warsaw City Council. The grants allow businesses to make downtown improvements. The recommendations were developed by the facade grant committee.

The proposal states there should be two grant distribution points per year for facade grants.

The proposal also states projects that were submitted in the first round of grants, but not completed during the allotted time, will forfeit their grant and must re-apply for the second round to have an opportunity to receive the grant.

Other recommendations include a $25 processing fee to accompany each grant request.

Each request will be reviewed with a point system, and only one grant is available to an individual company within a year. The company may submit for a second grant the following year and a company may submit a grant request for each street address.

The board will not meet in December. The next meeting is Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at the WCDC office.
