WCDC Discusses 'Downtown Spooktakular'

Trick-or-treating and costume judging all will be a part of this year's Downtown Spooktakular.

The event was discussed during Tuesday's Warsaw Community Development Corp. board meeting.

The event will be Oct. 26. Trick-or-treating will be from 6 to 7 p.m. in downtown Warsaw. Merchants participating in the contest will have balloons displayed on the front of their business.

A costume contest for ages infant to 12 will be on the courthouse lawn. Registration will be from 5 to 6 p.m., and judging will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Costumes will be judged on most original, funniest, cutest and best overall. Prizes will be awarded.

The event is being sponsored by Miller's Merry Manor, WCDC, Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club, Zimmer, National City and downtown merchants.

Also during the meeting, WCDC President Clint Pletcher announced his resignation. He will be moving to Carmel for job duties.

"I have enjoyed serving on the board and appreciated the board's involvement," Pletcher said.

Pletcher has served as president for the past three years. WCDC will vote on a replacement, WCDC Executive Director Carmen Lock said.

She said the board hopes to have a replacement by the first of the year. Current WCDC Vice President Cindy Dobbins will serve as the board's interim president.
