Warsaw Community Development Corporation board of directors heard Tuesday the tree dedication ceremony in the Biblical Gardens went well.

Dorothy Snyder of the Party Shop donated a willow in honor of Hallmark artist Marjolein Bastion.

The Taste of Downtown is May 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Center Lake Pavilion. The event benefits the Biblical Gardens, offering diners something from downtown restaurateur's menus. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, available at the WCDC office. Tours of the gardens, east of the pavilion, will be at 1:30 and 2 p.m.

WRSW radio station will broadcast live from the pavilion for the event.

Also on May 4, the Kosciusko County Historical Society will dedicate a marker at the Old Jail Museum.

WCDC director Carmen Lock said two grants have been received - one from Bill and Helen Dye in the amount of $5,300 and the second from the Esther Pfleiderer Trust in the amount of $10,000. The Dye monies will be spent on electrical boards for use during the City of Lakes Festival, June 20 - 21; the Pfleiderer funds will be used for restoration of the front of the WCDC office.

In other business, the board:

• Heard Lake City Bank will handle the revolving loan fund beginning May 2. Nicole Hurley said there was some concerns about accounting, which should be cleared up. The $100 administration fee has been waived. WCDC members may apply for small interest loans from the fund to spruce up their buildings.

• Heard the WCDC has 43 members.

• Heard from Teresa Ho that the new parking signs should be up next week. IPFW students will be asked to use the city lot instead of the diagonal parking around the "campus" at the corner of Center and Buffalo streets.

• Heard the Purdue University Boilermaker train will be part of the City of Lakes parade.

• Heard the parking lots and alleys around two downtown taverns are being patrolled more often. The police presence is keeping patrons from leaving beverage containers and loitering in the area.

• Heard Brown Bag Deli, on Buffalo Street, will open April 21. A ribbon cutting will be at 10 a.m.

• Heard $3 will be charged to enter the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds the evening of July 5 for the fireworks display. One dollar each will be distributed to the WCDC, the fair board and the Warsaw boys basketball team.
