Wawasee's Olson Advances To State Meet

VALPARAISO - With a sixth-place tie on the beam in Saturday's Valparaiso Regional, Wawasee freshman Lindsay Olson advanced to next Saturday's gymnastics state finals in Indianapolis.

Olson finished with a score of 8.95, tied with Portage's Julianne Repay. Olson is the only local girl to advance.

Merrillville won the team title with a score of 109.25, while Chesterton was second with 108.7. Hobart came in third with 106.7 team points, followed by Plymouth (97.25, Warsaw (96.95) and Wawasee 93.25.

Warsaw senior Jillian Letsch finished seventh in both the floor and beam events.

The top two teams as well as the top six individuals advance to Saturday's state finals.
