Wawasee's Home Win Over Whitko Leads Local Roundup

SYRACUSE — The Wawasee boys basketball team picked up a 63-49 home win over a Whitko Saturday night.
Senior Ryndan Aaron paced the Warriors with 19 points, eight of which came in the fourth quarter, while sophomores Alex Clark and Gage Reinhard each netted 11.
In defeat, senior Gabe Powell had 19 points for the Wildcats, senior Stephen Bennett scored 16 and senior Alex Stoddard finished with 10.
The 3-2 Warriors open Northern Lakes Conference action Friday at home against Warsaw, while Whitko’s next contest is Friday at Tippecanoe Valley, which will be its Three Rivers Conference opener.

The Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team picked up its fourth-straight victory Saturday night, defeating John Glenn 68-56 in Walkerton. Seniors Nick Kindig and Logan Britton scored 30 and 20 points, respectively, in the win, which improved Valley to 4-1. The Vikings return to the hardwood Tuesday at Peru.

Saturday in Syracuse
The 15th-ranked Wawasee girls swim team won its own 10-team invitational Saturday. Wawasee won the invite with 372 points, distancing itself from second-place Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, who finished with 295 points. Tippecanoe Valley was also at the tournament, finishing eighth with 43 points. In the team win, Breanna Robinson won the 200 free (1:54.76) and 100 free (52.97), Kayla Hershberger placed first in the 200 IM (2:21.27) and 500 free (5:49.73) and 200 free and 400 free relays also finished first. Wawasee hosts NorthWood Tuesday, while Valley’s next meet is Wednesday at home against Huntington North.

The Manchester wrestling team went 2-3 at Saturday’s Caston Duals. Individually, Manchester’s Clayton Moore (5-0), Tristin Burnette (5-0) and Neil Snep (4-1) all won individual titles.
