DUNLAP — The Wawasee boys swim team had one swimmer advance to state and finished third at Saturday's Concord Sectional. Winning their 11th-straight sectional crown, the fourth-ranked Northridge Raiders won nine of the 12 events at the sectional, accumulating 510 points for the victory. Elkhart Central finished second with 360.5 points and Wawasee rounded out the top three with 331, with host Concord placing fourth with 320.5. One of Northridge's losses came in the 100 breast, where Wawasee junior Zac Hershberger finished first in 1:00.57. With the win, Hershberger advances to the state finals at IUPUI in Indianapolis, where the prelims will be Friday night, with top 16 qualifiers then moving on to Saturday's finals. At the state finals, Hershberger will actually be seeded on spot ahead of Warsaw sophomore Spencer Davidson, in 26th. Wawasee also got second-place finishes from its 200 free relay (senior Sebastian List, junior Luke Smith, senior Andrew Busse, Hershberger) and its 400 free relay (freshman Logan Brugh, Smith, List, Hershberger). Rounding out his solid day, Hershberger also finished third in the 100 free.
