Wawasee Wins, Whitko Third At Northrop Invitational

FORT WAYNE – The Wawasee boys golf team’s score of 347 easily won the Fort Wayne Northrop Invitational Saturday. Whitko was third, two shots behind the host school in the runner-up spot. The Warriors’ Jeffrey Moore was the tournament medalist with a 75. Cal Heinisch turned in an 84, with Cameron Adams and Kyle Weideman each carding 94. Jayce Boatwright shot 104 to round out the Wawasee team. For Whitko, Tim Gensch had an 87, good for third place overall. Grady Clingerman shot a 92, Cade Bechtold a 100, and Kaleb Busz shot 103. The Wawasee junior varsity finished fifth in the tourney. Austin Schrack posted a 95 and Trevor Haessig a 95 to lead the Warriors. Jared Krugman and Dillon Drake each shot 104, and Connor Grumme had a 108. Triton’s JV was sixth. Next up for Wawasee is a road match with Central Noble on Tuesday. Whitko is back at it today, with a Three Rivers Conference match at North Miami.
