BENTON — All the Wawasee softball team needed was one win  to reach the Fairfield Sectional championship, and they did it.
Taking on NorthWood Tuesday at Fairfield, the Wawasee Lady Warriors cruised to a 7-0 win, pulling into Thursday’s 7 p.m. championship game against Lakeland.
Lakeland reached the title game by defeating Tippecanoe Valley 10-0 in five innings Monday then taking down Fairfield 3-0 Tuesday in nine innings.
The two championship teams played earlier this season, with Lakeland getting an 8-0.
In that loss, the Lady Warriors were struck out 19 times by Lakeland pitcher Ashylnn Grubb.
Against NorthWood, Wawasee senior pitcher Gabi Routson had it going, striking out 10 and giving up two hits.
At the plate, junior Kylie Norris went 3 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored, while sophomore Stacie Carr was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
A win over Lakeland would give Wawasee its fifth sectional title, it’s last being in 2010.
