Wawasee Third, Warsaw Fourth At Bob Turner Classic

LEESBURG – Wawasee finished in third place and Warsaw in fourth at Tuesday’s Bob Turner Classic at Tippecanoe Country Club.
Triton finished eighth and Tippecanoe Valley 10th in the 18-hole tournament. Fort Wayne Dwenger was the runaway winner with a 300, 19 shots better than second-place Penn. Wawasee carded a 321, Warsaw 326. Triton 340 and Valley 354.
Wawasee was led by Jeffrey Moore and Cal Heinisch; both shot 78. Warsaw’s Jonny Hollar was at 76, and Tiger Ryan Cultice shot an 81.
Triton’s Jordan Anderson also recorded a 76. Trevor Neeley paced Valley with an 84, and Bryce Zimpelman added an 86 for the Vikings.
Triton and Warsaw travel to the Lafayette Jefferson Classic on Saturday, Valley will play in the LaVille Invitational in Bremen on Saturday.

Tuesday in Akron
Alec Craig singled three times, scored twice, had two stolen bases and drove in a run and Austin Perdieu pitched four shutout innings in Tippecanoe Valley’s 7-4 home win over Winamac to close out its regular season.
The Vikings have a first-round bye in the 3A NorthWood Sectional in Nappanee and will play the winner of Wawasee and Whitko at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Tuesday in Churubusco
Manchester dropped a 10-0 road game to Churubusco in five innings Tuesday night.
The Squires open postseason play in the 2A Wabash Sectional at 10:30 a.m. Saturday against Cass. The winner moves on to the sectional final to take on Southwood, Wabash or Oak Hill.

Softball Sectional
Tuesday in Walton
Manchester beat Southwood 5-0 in the 2A Cass Sectional semifinal Tuesday. The Lady Squires advance to the championship game at 5 p.m. today and will take on Oak Hill, a 3-1 winner over Southwood, for the title.

Triton Sectional
Tuesday’s 1A softball sectional championship game in Bourbon featuring Bethany Christian and Triton was rained out, and will be played at 6:30 p.m. today.

Lakeland Sectional
In the Lakeland 3A Sectional, Wawasee was in a scoreless tie with Fairfield, with the Lady Warriors hitting in the top of the third inning. The game was suspended and will pick up where it left off at 5 p.m. today in LaGrange.
The other semifinal game between Whitko and West Noble will follow the completion of the first game.
