BLOOMINGTON -ÊThe Wawasee boys swim team placed 40th of 50 teams in the swimming state finals. Carmel won the competition, racking up 274.5 points, 80 more than second-place North Central of Indianapolis. It was Carmel's eighth state title in the past 12 years.

Wawasee finished with nine points.

Wawasee swimmer Guy Simmons placed ninth in the 100 backstroke. Although his time of 52.91 seconds would have placed him sixth, Simmons earned the ninth spot because he was in the consolation round. The first-place swimmer in the backstroke, Matt McDonald, finished the race in 49.95 seconds.
