WINONA LAKE – Jacob (JJ) Gilmer has enjoyed a sterling high school track career at Wawasee High School. He made his college decision official on Tuesday when he signed his letter of intent for Grace College. “My family went to Grace so I know it to be a solid school. Grace offers what I need to build toward my future,” Gilmer said. “I’m looking forward studying art at Grace and competing on the track team.” “Jacob [Gilmer] has been such an important part of our team. Besides being an outstanding jumper, Jacob has been a strong leader and encouraging person who was a spiritual force on the team,” said Wawasee head coach Scott Lancaster. “Not only will we miss his abilities, but his personality and character will leave a void. We are very proud that Jacob has selected Grace where he will be in great hands athletically, academically and spiritually.” Gilmer has been a conference, sectional and regional champ in the high jump during his career. He is also part of Wawasee’s record-breaking 4x100-meter relay team. Gilmer (R) is pictured above with his mother, Rachel and Coach Lancaster.
