Wawasee Spikers Fall

SYRACUSE - The Wawasee Warriors volleyball team lost in straight sets to Lakeland on Monday, 15-12, 15-11.

Kara Mathew had nine kills and 11 digs in the defeat. Lydia Carpenter added another nine kills and Sara Frantz had 26 assists for the Warriors.

In junior varsity action, Lakeland won 15-7, 16-14. Betsy Leinbach was 13 for 13 on serves with two aces and Emily Cline had five kills. Jennifer Mason added ten assists.

Wawasee (1-2) will be at Central Noble today at 6 p.m.

Manchester Over

Maconaquah 15-7, 15-12

At Bunker Hill, the Manchester Squires won their season-opening match on Monday.

Natalie Stambaugh had three aces and Megan Eckert added three assists in the win.

The junior varsity team also defeated Maconaquah 15-0, 15-2. Jenny Olsen had three aces for the Squires.

Manchester (1-0) will be at Whitko on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Tippecanoe Valley 1

At Elkhart, Eric Love defeated Ben Eggleston 6-4, 1-6, 6-2, but Valley fell to Jimtown on Monday.

The Valley junior varsity team lost 3-0 to Jimtown, dropping all three matches in straight sets.

Valley (0-2) will host John Glenn on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

In junior varsity action, Manchester won 4-1. Brad Keffaber defeated Andy Meyer at No. 2 singles 8-6.

At Rochester, the Manchester Squires avenged their TRC Invitational loss to Rochester by defeating the Zebras on Monday.

Katie Parker shot a 44 to take medalist honors for the Squires.

Manchester (3-1) will be at Sycamore Golf Course against Caston at 4:30 p.m on Wednesday.

Winamac Defeats Valley

At Winamac, Andria Parker served six points and had five kills, but Tippecanoe Valley still lost to Winamac 15-5, 15-11 on Monday.

Rhonda Doud had eight assists for Valley, and Jennifer Studebaker had a kill. Parker was 8-for-8 serving, while Brooke Fisher was 7-for-8 serving. Fisher served four points, including one ace.

Valley's junior varsity team moved to 3-2 with a 15-2, 15-11 win over Winamac.

Valley, 0-2 overall, hosts a 6 p.m. Thursday match with Wabash.
