COLUMBIA CITY – Wawasee scored twice in the first 10 minutes of its match with Columbia City, then held on over the last 70 minutes to claim a 2-1 non-conference boys soccer win over the Eagles. The Warriors’ Kyle Weideman scored the first goal on a feed from Carter Jones, then Austin Schrack scored on another assist from Jones. “The remaining 70 minutes we played poor, rushed soccer and gave up a late goal to Columbia City,” said Wawasee head coach Jordan Sharp via fax. “It was good to get a victory, but the JV game was the impressive one tonight.” Brady Wickersham scored five times in the junior varsity game, leading Wawasee to a 9-1 win. Kobe Jones scored twice, with Blayne Faught and Cam Gillum getting a goal each. Jones was credited with four assists. Wickersham and Joe LeCount had one assist each. Wawasee will hit the road Saturday, heading to Kendallville to take on East Noble at 11 a.m.
