SOUTH WHITLEY – Benefiting from a forfeit in the No. 2 doubles match, Wawasee High School’s varsity girls tennis team edged host Whitko 3-2 Monday evening. In matches that were contested, the Lady Warriors and Lady Wildcats each won twice. Whitko won a pair of singles matches, as Morgan Keirn beat Wawasee’s Jada Antonides 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1, and the Lady Wildcats’ Mikaela Finley beat Thanatcha Thanasrivanitchai 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 at No. 2. Wawasee’s Charity Parker and Ashley Larson defeated Whitko’s Blair Creamer and Aurelia Slusher 6-1, 6-1 in No. 1 doubles action, while Jazlyn Gehlhausen and Kabrea Rostochak were awarded a win at No. 2 doubles, as Whitko didn’t have available players. The Lady Warriors scored the match-clinching team point at No. 3 singles, as Chelsea Carolus topped Delaney Keirn 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4). Both Wawasee and Whitko are in action again this week in the Warsaw Sectional.
