Wawasee Names Two New Head Coaches

SYRACUSE - Scott DeHart will return to the wrestling program at Wawasee for the 2005-06 school year. Dehart will remain as the girls golf coach and assume the head coaching position for wrestling.

Many will remember DeHart as the Warrior mentor from 1991-1997. During that time, the Warriors were 65-45-1, winning seven sectionals, three regionals and one semistate championships. Under DeHart, the Warriors made one appearance in the IHSAA team state championships.

DeHart was named Northern Lakes Conference Coach of the Year three times.

DeHart is employed at Wawasee High School as a teacher in the physical education department. He will assume the duties of wrestling coach immediately. DeHart replaces Darrell Carr.

Kim Nguyen, science department teacher at Wawasee High School, has been named the Head coach for the boys soccer program. Nguyen is completing his fourth year with Wawasee Schools and has been associated with area soccer as a player and coach.

Nguyen was the assistant coach for the Warriors in 2004 and was the girls head coach for Wawasee in 2002. As a player at Wawasee High School, Nguyen earned four varsity letters and was named Most Valuable Player once.

He earned a varsity letter at Grace College in Winona Lake as a striker.

Nguyen has also been involved as a youth league and travel league coach for four years. He will assume his duties as soccer coach immediately. Nguyen replaces Paul Boyd.
