Dear Wawasee Community School Corporation parents and community members,
Thank you for the confidence you placed in us during the tragic situation of a student's passing from bacterial meningitis. All of us at Wawasee felt a sense of loss, along with a sense of apprehension. The school worked with the county and state health departments to keep abreast of the situation and to notify you. With cell phone texting and calls, some untrue information did make its way around our area.
I would personally like to thank Principal Tony Cassel and the teachers and staff members at the Wawasee Middle School. Along with teachers, administrators and support personnel at all Wawasee buildings, they provided emotional support for students and parents. The memorial service at Wawasee Middle School was special. Our nurses did a wonderful job answering questions and arranging for student vaccinations. During the tough times of the past weeks, there was certainly a sense of our community coming together.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to surround the Fidler family now and in the future.
