SYRACUSE - Wawasee High School hosted six Northern Lakes Conference schools in the annual NLC Academic Super Bowl.
The NLC has represented the area as several state place winners and champions have come from this group. The state qualifier is scheduled in mid-April. This year's competition is over the English Renaissance 1500-1690.
In the English competition, Warsaw placed first answering 21 of 25 questions correctly. NorthWood was the second place team, while the team from Goshen High School finished third.
In the science competition, Wawasee was the first-place team answering 17 questions correctly. Warsaw Community High School placed second, and Goshen High School placed third.
The fine arts competition saw three teams answer 18 questions correctly. The tie-breaking procedure placed the team from WCHS in first place, NorthWood High School in second place, and Northridge High School in third.
NorthWood High School's social studies team led the way in that competition, recording 20 correct responses. Northridge High School finished second and Goshen High School completed that competition in third place.
Scores were the order of the evening in the math competition with the team from NorthWood leading the way scoring correct responses on 23 of the 25 questions. WCHS's math team finished second, while the team from Goshen High School finished third.
In the Interdisciplinary competition, NorthWood led the way with 19 correct responses. The team from Goshen High School finished in second place, and the team from Northridge finished third.
Final team results are as follows: NorthWood, first, 34.5; Warsaw, second 29; Goshen, third, tie, 27; Northridge, third, tie, 27; Wawasee, fifth, 19; Plymouth, sixth, 16; and Concord, seventh, 15.5.
