SYRACUSE - A big-city boy moves into a small town where dancing is prohibited.
But the boy's got to dance, and his new schoolmates want to join him. The local preacher, however, and the "concerned" parents of the town won't allow it.
What's a boy to do when all he wants to do is dance? If you've seen the classic 1984 movie "Footloose," you know the answer. Or see the Broadway musical version of the movie as it's presented at Wawasee High School March 22-24.
All the characters audiences remember from the movie are there - the new boy in town, Ren McCormack (Spencer Ladd); the reverend's daughter who wants to rebel, Ariel Moore (Melissa Sabones); and the Rev. Shaw Moore himself (Jason Sparlin).
Many of the songs from the soundtrack also will be performed by the actors, including "Girl Gets Around," "Somebody's Eyes," "Holding On For A Hero," "Let's Hear It For The Boy" and the title song.
"Footloose" the musical is at 7 p.m. March 22-24. All seats are reserved. Tickets are $5 for students, $7 for adults. For reservations, call 574-457-3147.
