Wawasee Golfers Roll To Wins Over Whitko, W. Noble

SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s varsity girls golf team claimed a pair of wins at South Shore on Wednesday night with a team score of 175. Whitko earned a split with a close win over host West Noble, 236-238. The Lady Warriors’ Kylee Rostochak was the medalist with a 9-hole score of 40. Teammate Madison Beaman tied with West Noble’s Paige Shearer at 42. Aubrey Schmeltz carded a 45 for Wawasee, while Kamryn Foy had a 48 and Mikala Mawhorter completed the course with 51 strokes. Among Whitko and West Noble players, only Shearer had a lower score than any Wawasee golfer. Whitko was paced by Holly Hathaway’s 53 and Claire Reiff’s 56. Alexys Rider had a 63, and Aurelia Slusher was a shot behind Rider. Makayla Compton finished with an 83. Wawasee improved to 5-0 in dual matches on the season. Whitko now has a record of 1-4. All three teams return to South Shore at 9 a.m. Saturday for the Wawasee Invitational.
