Track Thursday in South Whitley The Whitko boys track team defeated Rochester 86-46 and the girls won 82-50. First-place finishers for the boys were Walker Hobbs in the shot put, Conner Sherwin in the discus, Garret Elder in the long jump and 100, Daniel Kirkham in the 400, Alex Morales in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Alex Wilson in the 200, the 4 x 100 relay team of Elder, Will Bumbaugh, Alex Wilson, and Gavin Powell, and the 4x400 relay of Elder, Zach Baughman, Brady Weeks, and Kirkham. On the girls side, winners were Elaine Warner in the long jump and 300 hurdles, Kaitlyn Reed in the high jump and 200, Michelle Kelsey in the pole vault, Reghan Craig in the 100 and Brigit Nemitz in the 1600. The Wildcat teams will next compete in the Goshen Relays on April 25.
Girls Tennis Thursday in Wabash The No. 1 doubles team of Claire Barnett and Karly Eichenauer came from behind to win in three sets and the No. 2 doubles team of Reilly ruppert and Leian Brandenburg won in straight sets in Manchester’s 3-2 loss to Wabash. Boys Golf Thursday in Rochester Tippecanoe Valley finished third, but missed winning by only six strokes in a golf match with Rochester and Culver Academies. Cole Cumberland and Jeremy Julian shot matching 43s for Valley. Bryce Zimpelman shot a 44, Trevor Neeley posted a 45, Kane Stellar finished with a 62 for the Vikings. Valley will play in the Michigan City-Marquette Invitational tournament Saturday. Thursday in Warsaw Triton easily defeated Culver Community 162-214 in a golf match at Warsaw’s Rozella Ford course. Jordan Anderson paced the Trojans with a 38, while Greg Music and Braden Kreft each carded 39s. Spencer Johnson had a 46, and fifth man Bryce Swihart had a 48, one shot better than any Culver player. Triton will play in the Don Dicken Classic at Stonehenge on Saturday.
