Wawasee Girls Now 6-0

SYRACUSE - The Wawasee Warrior girls' basketball team improved to 6-0 to start the season, beating Elkhart Central 68-49 on Saturday.

The Warriors hit 7 of 8 three-pointers.

Lydia Carpenter scored 19 abd Carly Beer 18 for the Warriors

Elkhart Central fell to 4-1.

Wawasee won the junior varsity game 38-23.

Wawasee has a 6:30 p.m. Thursday game at Manchester.

Culver Military Academy 10

Triton's freshman boys' basketball team improved to 3-0 by beating Culver Military Academy by 53 points on Saturday.

Branden Clauss scored 15 and Jason Bules 14 for Triton.

The Trojans outscored CMA 21-4 in the opening quarter and 14-0 in the fourth quarter.

LCA Drops Two

The Lakeland Christian Academy boys' basketball team lost two Saturday games.

Clinton beat LCA 91-36. Ryan Andrew scored 16 for LCA.

Kokomo beat LCA 84-32. Andrew scored 21 for LCA.

LCA, 1-3, is at Lakewood Park on Tuesday.

Triton Goes 2-0 In Invite

At Bourbon, the Triton wrestling team went undefeated in its Saturday invitational.

Triton beat Tippecanoe Valley 51-27 and beat South Adams 40-39. South Adams downed Valley in the other match.

Ryan Klotz (103 pounds), Brandon Chapman (112), B.J. Blackmer (125) and Dustan Bradley (135) each had 2-0 records for Triton.

Winning for Valley against South Adams were Rafael Villalon (125), Russell Rhamey (140), David Reese (151), and Chris Hoover (160).

Winning for Valley against Triton were Rhamey (140), Hoover (160), Mike McNeal (171), Mark Wortley (189) and Lucas Cox (215).

Triton, 5-4, has a 6 p.m. Tuesday match at Jimtown.

Valley hosts a 6 p.m. Tuesday triple dual.

Whitko Goes 2-3

At Huntington, the Whitko wrestling team went 2-3 in Saturday's Huntington North Invitational.

Whitko beat Blackford 72-10 and beat Rochester 45-31. The Wildcats lost to Norwell 57-14, lost to Oak Hill 45-27 and lost to Huntington North 63-9.

Mark Rakoczy (152) went 4-0 and Scott Barker (275) 5-0 for Whitko, the only two Wildcats to go undefeated on the day. Rakoczy is 4-0 overall this season, while Barker is 9-0.

Whitko is 3-6 overall and 1-1 in the TRC.

Whitko competes in Tuesday's 6 p.m. Tippecanoe Valley Triple Dual.

At Concord

At Dunlap, the Warsaw junior varsity wrestling team competed in Saturday's Concord Invitational.

Steve Fribley (189) took first place for the Tigers. Antonio Espinoza (171) and Tim Rowe (130) each took second place. Marvin Farmer (171), Joe Wildman (130) and Isaac Perry (152) each took third place.

Warsaw's junior varsity team competes in the Rochester Invitational next Saturday.

At Elkhart, the Elkhart Central girls' swim team took first place in 10 of 12 events en route to a Saturday win over Warsaw.

Stephanie Ellis (diving) and Megan Jones (100 freestyle) had Warsaw's two first places.

Warsaw competes in a 6:30 p.m. Tuesday meet at Goshen.
