Wawasee completed a sweep of Warsaw as the Warriors girls toopped the Tigers 52-46 Saturday night at the Tiger Den.
The Wawasee boys defeated Warsaw 46-30 Friday night in Syracuse.
The Warriors won Saturday night on the strength of clutch free throw shooting and some timely baskets.
Wawasee led 39-26 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Tigers went on a 9-1 run to start the final quarter and close to within five at 40-35 before Wawasee coach Kem Zolman called a timeout.
Freshman Terra Weisser extended the Warriors' lead to seven points at 42-35 on a layup after hauling in an offensive rebound.
Warsaw had a chance to close in on Wawasee, but during a stretch of the final four minutes of the game, the Tigers missed six straight free throws.
For the game, Warsaw finished 11 of 19 from the free throw line while Wawasee went 21 of 35.
Wawasee led by four at 50-46 with 36.3 seconds left after Warsaw fresman Kelci Freds was unable to connect on a three pointer that would have put the Warrior lead at one point.
The Warriors then hit 2 of 4 from the charity stripe in the final 30 seconds. Junior Kalyn Lantz hit one of two then sophomore Taylor Goshert hit one of two after stealing a Tiger pass at halfcourt.
Lantz, who has started most of the season for the Warriors, came off the bench for nine points and four rebounds.
Lantz gave Wawasee its biggest lead of the game at 19 points when she scored five straight points during a stretch of the fourth quarter.
"Kalyn can do that," said Zolman. "They left her open. The thing with our team is you can't just key on one person and Kalyn was able to hit those shots."
Zolman started the 6-1 and 5-11 combo of Shawn Knafel and Jessie Wolf in hopes Wawasee's size advantage would help.
The smaller Warsaw squad battled and was aided off the bench by the solid interior play of Megan Davis.
Davis, who saw a lot of playing time in the second half, scored a team-high 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Davis' play, along with the solid play of others off the bench has Warsaw coach John Snyder well aware that a shakeup in the starting lineup may need to take place.
"I've already told the girls changes are coming," said Snyder. "We just kind of go back to the drawing board now. I'm still confident in our stuff. We'll have a good film session and we'll get better."
Freds finished with 13 points for Warsaw while Kate Denligner had nine and Danielle DeGeeter added six. Alexis Albertson chipped in three points while Kacie Conley added a point.
Goshert led the way for Wawasee with 14 points while Brennan McAdams scored 12. Megan Walker added seven while Kylee Ort and Weisser each had four. Wolf added two points.
Warsaw, 4-5 on the season and 0-2 in the NLC, takes on Fort Wayne Snider Thursday night.
Wawasee, 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference, hosts the Wawase Shootout Saturday with Norwell, Brebeuf Jesujit and Plymouth visiting the Hardwood Teepee.
