SYRACUSE - The Wawasee girls swimming team took first place in four different events at the NLC swimming prelims Thursday.
Jenny Marty placed first in the 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley while Laura Lundin placed first in the 100 freestyle. The Wawasee 200 freestyle relay team also placed first overall.
Warsaw had one second-place finish. That came in the 100 backstroke where Katie Beehler finished runner-up.
NorthWood's top finish was at third place in the 100 breaststroke. Sarah Eaton swam that event for the Panthers.
The top eight advance to the finals.
The finals will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wawasee Middle School.

Rochester 48, Triton 46
At Rochester, Triton outscored Rochester by eight points in the fourth quarter but the Zebras held off the Trojans for a two-point win on Thursday.
The Trojans trailed Rochester 35-25 heading into the fourth quarter but took a 46-41 lead with 1:30 to play. However, the Zebras scored the final seven points of the game for the win.
Chris Scott scored 13 points and dished out three assists while Amilia Devros scored 12 points. Megan Sarber had six points, eight rebounds and three assists for the Trojans.
In the junior varsity game, Triton beat Rochester 38-22.
Triton (7-5, 4-1) will compete in the NorthWood Tournament on Saturday.

At Syracuse, Penn remained undefeated on the season with a big win over Wawasee on Thursday.
Mandie Sawyer scored six points and had two assists for the Warriors. Erica Auker had five points and eight rebounds while Shasta Gearhart, Sarah Shock and Shalesta Newcomer scored four points each. Kim Morgan had one point and four rebounds.
Wawasee (4-11) will host Valley on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

At Syracuse, in Christa Olson's first meet for the Warriors, she placed first in the floor, bars and all-around to help Wawasee defeat Leo on Thursday.
Angie Beer placed first on the beam and that helped carry her to a second place finish in the all-around.
In the junior varsity meet, Wawasee defeated Leo 67.25-27.85.

Warsaw defeated Logansport for the first time ever on Thursday in a tight meet.
The Tigers' Jillian Letsch, Kim Love and Kari Lipply placed second through fourth in the all-around.
In junior varsity action, Warsaw knocked off Logansport 63.6-55.6. Bethany Young placed first in the vault and the bars while Heather Hyde took first in the all-around.
Both the varsity and junior varsity teams are 4-1 on the year. Warsaw will host Wawasee on Tuesday.

At Fort Wayne, Manchester swept a swimming meet with Carroll on Thursday.
Jeremy Stacy won four events for the boys swimming team to help them move to 10-4. He won both the 200 and 500 freestyle events and swam on relay teams that won the medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
In girls action, Nikki McKenzie and Heidi Yoder each won four events. They both swam on winning medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams. McKenzie also placed first in the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle while Yoder took first in the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke.
Manchester will host Columbia City on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
