Wawasee Gets Come-From-Behind Win Over Wabash

WABASH – Wawasee’s baseball team scored once in the seventh inning to tie the game, then again in the eighth to take a 9-8 win over Wabash Wednesday evening.
 The Warriors trailed after two innings, then scored four times in the third to take a 6-3 lead. The Apaches came back with a pair of runs in the fourth and sixth, and a single tally in the fifth to take the lead, setting the stage for the Wawasee comeback.
Andrew Wright picked up the victory in relief, pitching 4-2/3 innings. Gage Reinhard led Wawasee’s 13-hit attack with four singles, and Nate Prescott added three more one-baggers. Harrison Shorthill singled and walked four times in six plate appearances, and Drew Anderson doubled, drove in two runs and stole a pair of bases. Reinhard added another pair of steals.
Wawasee is scheduled to take its 2-0 record to North Manchester and take on the Squires at 5 p.m. tonight.

Baseball
Wednesday at N. Manchester
Manchester took an early lead, fell behind by five runs, came back to tie the game, then gave up the game winner in the seventh and final inning in a 9-8 loss to Fort Wayne Wayne Tuesday night.
Bailey Ness and David McAtee drove in two runs each for the Squires, and Evan Milam had three hits for Manchester.
Milam pitched three innings and McAtee recorded three strikeouts in his time on the mound.
Now 0-1, Manchester is set to take on Wawasee at 5 p.m. tonight.

Softball
Wednesday in Warsaw
The Lady Tiger softball team scored single runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Mishawaka in a 15-3 home loss.
Senior Sidney Hernandez homered to left in the second inning, and  got a RBI single from Hernandez in the fourth. She would finish with three hits on the night.
Classmate Ashley Gamble drove in the other Warsaw run with a single in what would be the final inning.
Now 0-2, Warsaw is now off until April 14 when they will host East Noble at 5 p.m.
