Wawasee Fall Sports Winners AnnouncedSYRACUSE – Wawasee announced its fall sports award winners earlier this week. In boys tennis, Dylan Staley and Evan Krueger were selected as most improved, Nathan Perek was the most valuable player and had the most wins, and Jacob Krugman was the junior varsity most improved player. Sarah Weaver was the varsity cheer MVP, and Jada Parzygnot was the varsity competition cheer MVP. Cali Willaman was junior varsity football cheeer MVP, and Madison Smith was the freshman football cheer MVP. Siera Littlejohn was the spirit award winner, and freshman Emily Gergle was most improved. Tyler Smith was Wawasee football’s offensive player and special teams of the year, and Paul Mendoza was the defensive player of the year. Keyan Peete was the scout team POY, and Levi Brown was the POY of the freshman team. Bryce Woody was named the Dimitri Kaplanis Memorial Player of the Year. Volleyball’s Brooke Heche won the varsity hustle award, and Ashley Beer the Heart of a Warrior Award. On the junior varsity team, Kaylin Williams was the hustle award winner, and Elizabeth Kleopfer was the Heart of a Warrior winner. From the freshman team, Mckenzie Click won the hustle award, and Madison Mottern was the Heart of a Warrior winner. In girls golf, Aubrey Schmeltz was the MVP, and Jadison Rostochak was freshman of the year. Lesley Tayagua was the mental attitude award winner, and Zoe White was most improved. McKenzie Smith was the most improved girls cross country runner, and Lila Gregory was rookie of the year. Evelin Romo won the mental attitude award winner, with Aubrey Kuhn and Elizabeth Zorn winning awards for tenacity. In boys cross country, Sam Griner and Luke Griner were recognized for competitive toughness, Ben Hoffert for dedication to training, and Thomas Conley for newcomer impact. Brandon Kill was the most improved runner, and Michael Drabenstott was awarded for encouragement and inspiration. The girls soccer team had Hannah Lancaster as newcomer of the year, and Kendra Doerr won the commitment award. Natalie Winters was the most improved player, and Leeann Estrada was the player of the year. Destiny Howard won the attitude award, and Kayla Estrada was the junior varsity player of the year. Hunter Magiera was the MVP of the boys soccer team. Eric Yankosky won the defensive award, and Chris Pena the offensive award. From the junior varsity squad, Rene Sanchez was MVP, Ashton Stookey won the offensive award and Austin Dunithan the defensive award.
