SYRACUSE – On Tuesday, the Wawasee High School Choirs will present “Forever Christmas” for the community.
The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. and take place in the high school auditorium. The program will feature both secular and sacred music of the Christmas season. The Beginning Choir, Advanced Women’s Ensemble and Vocal Motion will participate.
The Beginning Choir will start the program with the traditional Spanish carol “A La Nanita Nana.” Then the Advanced Women’s Ensemble will perform the English carol “Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day” and “Hush Little Baby,” a traditional folk song with additional Christmas text.
Vocal Motion will begin its section of the program with the Latin “Hodie,” which is translated to “Today Christ is Born.”
The male section of Vocal Motion will then perform “A Gentleman’s Chorus,” which incorporates the songs “Go Tell It On the Mountain,” “Christ was Born on Christmas Day” and “Good Christian Men, Rejoice.”
The group will continue with the performing of “Sing We Now of Christmas,” a French carol, and finish with its traditional rendition of “Fruitcake.”
The choirs then will combine to perform a mini musical, “Forever Christmas.”
There will be all the favorite holiday pieces with costumes, lights and special appearances by Frosty, Santa Claus, Rudolph and Suzie Snowflake.
The program will end with the ringing of “Hallelujah Chorus” by George Fredric Handel. Audience members will be invited to join the choirs in singing.
