SYRACUSE - The Wawasee School Board started the new year by reorganizing.

Mike Wilson is taking the position of President, George W. Gilbert is vice president, Rebecca Linnemeier is secretary, Betty Bultemeier is the recording secretary, and David Cates assume the role of board attorney.

The meeting included the announcement of a K21 Foundation Grant for $35,000 in child development for Real Care Babies and curriculum materials.

In addition, Kosciusko Community Hospital Board of Trustees announced Wawasee Schools as its selected charity under the suggestion of Dr. David Hartman.

The board also heard a report on attendance data.

The report concluded that students who miss the allowed 15 days a school year can end up missing an entire year of schooling.

The policy is being studied by the board. Wawasee School Board meets every second Tuesday of the month except for April this year.
