Wawasee Advances To XC Regional; Whitko's Nemitz Moves On Too

ELKHART — The Wawasee boys and girls cross country teams each advanced out of Saturday's Elkhart Central Sectional at Ox Bow Park. The top five teams and top 10 individuals from a non-advancing team moved out of the sectional and will return to Ox Bow Park in Elkhart this Saturday for the regional. The Wawasee girls finished third with 113 points, while Northridge was first with 33 and Goshen was second with 104. Also moving out were Concord (118) and Elkhart Christian Academy (125), finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. The Goshen boys won the section with 61 points, followed by Northridge (69), Elkhart Memorial (86), NorthWood (116) and Wawasee (119). Individually, Elkhart Memorial's Sierra Moore won the girls race with a time of 18:17, while Wawasee's Sarah Harden (20:51), Aubrey Kuhn (21:09) and Yanelly Pizana (21:13) finished 18th, 20th and 22nd, respectively. Saturday in Fort Wayne
Whitko’s Brigit Nemitz advanced out of Saturday’s Fort Wayne Northrop Sectional and will run at this Saturday’s West Noble Regional. The Whitko Lady Wildcats finished 11th at the 12-team sectional, but her time of 21:06 was 24th overall and was among the top 10 finishes among girls not on one of the top five teams, which also advanced to the regional.
