ELKHART – Jada Parzygnot was second in every event and in the all around, leading Wawasee to a second-place team finish at Elkhart Central’s Blazer Holiday Invitational gymnastics meet Wednesday. The host Lady Blazers finished first with 105.60 points to the Lady Warriors’ 102.15.
The two teams finished in the same order at the sectional meet last season.
Reagan Atwood tied Parzygnot in the vault and beam, and was sixth in the floor exercise and seventh on the bars for a fifth-place all-around finish. Alyssa Minnix, Aundreya Wegener and Karyssa Davis finished 8-9-10 in the all-around.
“Overall, we had a solid meet. We were happy to finish second behind a strong Elkhart (Central) team,” Wawasee head coach Nika Prather said. “A team score of 102-plus is a great start, since that’s what we scored at the sectional championship at the end of the season last year.
“It’s just the beginning of the season, and we have a lot of new skills to gain. But overall, we think the future looks pretty bright for our team.”
Wawasee will next compete at Angola Jan. 10.
