The Tippecanoe Watershed Foundation’s annual photo contest, “Picture Your Watershed,” is a way for the foundation to connect with the community and show what it’s like to live in the land of the lakes, TWF says in a recent announcement. You can enter your pictures through the Tippecanoe Watershed Foundation’s Facebook page, under the “Photo Contest 2015” tab on the top of the homepage. The competition is open to everyone to submit their favorite pictures from the land and lakes in the Upper Tippecanoe River Watershed. Pictures will be accepted until Oct. 31, then TWF will open up the pictures for the “People’s Choice” awards. For more rules, regulations and conditions, visit www.tippecanoewatershed.org. Also, on Oct. 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Big Lake Church of God, join Jed Pearson, DNR Fish specialist, and Scott Zeigler, watershed specialist, for a history and update on the current status of the lake and its drainage boundaries. After their presentations, Austin Fergusson, owner of Dulcius Vineyard, will share lessons on grape production and how he uses best practices to help keep his land green and the water clean and healthy. Following the lesson on viniculture, Lyn Crighton, TWF executive director, will explain how you and TWF can protect our natural aquatic treasures and preserve them for generations to come. The event will be held at the corner of Ind. 109 and CR 600/700 across from Crooked Lake Golf Course. A meet and greet and light supper begin at 6 p.m. The event is free.
